Home Services Resources Volunteer About Us NALA News SPELL BALL			Joplin NALA (Neighborhood Adult Literacy Action) Read began in 1981 with Geraldine Brackett (1981 - 1994) serving as the First Coordinator. Currently, Joplin NALA Read has three staff members: Marj Boudreaux   - Executive Director Joan Doner   - Program Coordinator Gail Brown   - Administrative Assistant    On an average, we have 60 trained tutors, 45 of whom are active at present. Of the 114 students who came through our doors last year, 70 are currently active. 30 of those 70 are Americans who need to improve their reading and math skills. 40 are students from other countries who need to learn English as their second language (ESL).
